Ron Finley, Artist, Fashion Designer, Humanitarian, sometimes Gardener
Ron Finley, renowned as a Gangsta Gardener (because gardening is gangsta), from South Central LA, has garnered global acclaim as a leading advocate for healthy food initiatives in disadvantaged communities. Actively cultivating vegetable gardens in parkways, schools, and homeless shelters, he offers a nutritious alternative to fast food in areas often deemed as food deserts. His compelling TED Talk, "A Guerilla Gardener in South Central LA," has resonated with an audience of over 6.2M million people. As the founder of the Ron Finley Project, he tirelessly champions the notion that the simple act of growing one's own food can catalyze transformative effects on health, lives, culture, and communities.
In both his vocation and his life philosophy, Ron operates without constraints or boundaries. He staunchly believes that ideas should not be confined; instead, they should be as boundless and extravagant as one's imagination allows. Ron aspires to transform people's DNA, aiming to instill the realization that individuals can design their own lives and not the one that has been designed for them.
