Question about events?

THANK YOU ALL!

What a momentous week!

Over the course of three days, we spoke with rangers on the thin green line, explored the history and contributed to the beauty of Balboa Park in tandem with The Nat's 150th anniversary and set our sights on the path forward for the growing global community that is 1% for the Planet. While we work diligently to create this container known as Global Summit, you create the experience.

With humble thanks and immense gratitude,
The 1% for the Planet Team

Where we’ll gather

Our 6th annual Global Summit is taking place within San Diego’s ever-changing, always amazing, 1,200-acre backyard - Balboa Park. Main events will be hosted at San Diego Natural History Museum, tracing its roots to an enthusiastic group of amateur naturalists who came together in 1874 to study the unique flora and fauna of San Diego. San Diego Natural History Museum (and affectionately referred to as The Nat) focuses on the natural history and unique biodiversity of this binational region.

We welcome you to Balboa Park for this year’s Global Summit gathering in tandem with celebrating The Nat’s 150 years of scientific research throughout Southern California and the Baja California Peninsula.

Where to stay

A longstanding symbol of San Diego’s history located in the city’s North Park neighborhood and just minutes from San Diego International Airport, the LaFayette Hotel was built in 1946 by young entrepreneur Larry Imig as a haven for young Hollywood, hosting Ava Gardner, Lana Turner, Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope. The new LaFayette Hotel brings guests on a creative exploration that features an ode to the original “city within a city” hotel concept, moving beyond a one-dimensional space that exudes a well-curated, aspirational style.

We recommend arriving in San Diego early on Oct. 15th and checking out on Oct. 18th for the full Global Summit experience.

🙃 Demand was high! Our block of rooms is sold out and the LaFayette is booked!

🏡 There are still excellent places to stay very near to Balboa Park! We recommend exploring the fun, eclectic selection of local short term rentals that the neighborhoods surrounding Balboa Park have to offer.
