1% for the Planet is a global movement inspiring businesses to support environmental solutions through annual membership and everyday actions. We accelerate smart environmental giving by advising on giving strategies, certifying donations and amplifying the impact of our network.
Kate Williams
CEO
Kate Williams is CEO of 1% for the Planet, a global movement that inspires action and commitment so that our planet and future generations thrive. 1% for the Planet’s global network of thousands of businesses and individuals have donated $100s of millions to environmental partners to date. Kate has led significant growth in the community’s scale and impact, as well as deep work on best practices for implementing high impact giving strategies, growing a network brand and operating as a thriving workplace with an incredible staff team. Kate earned a BA at Princeton University and an MS at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and has served on a variety of Boards throughout her career. Kate is Mom to two amazing young adults, 30-year partner with her husband, and is a trail runner, hiker with her dog and kitchen gardener.
Allyson Bartlett
VP, Brand and Marketing
Allyson is the VP of Brand & Marketing and has been at 1% for the Planet since 2018 building an in-house team, growing the global brand and driving record scale and impact. Before 1%, Allyson worked in communications & brand strategy at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, earning her master's in business administration and recognition as a Vermont Rising Stars under 40. Due to her passion for the environment, Allyson was motivated to bring her background at a member-driven, nonprofit to 1% for the Planet. Allyson lives with her husband, son and cat at Bolton Valley Ski Resort, where they enjoy hosting—whether it be in the kitchen or out on the slopes. She and her husband also own a photobooth business, which takes them to many spectacular events—allowing them to meet new people and acquire an outlandish costume collection and vintage vans.
Susan Lane
Director of Philanthropy
Susan's extensive background in building vibrant and high-performing teams, thriving donor communities, and fostering partnerships with major donors, foundations, and corporations will be instrumental in cultivating individual and philanthropic support to increase 1% for the Planet's visibility, impact, and financial resources. Lane is deeply committed to making a difference, as demonstrated by her early days as a volunteer to her current role. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in transparency, authenticity, and a commitment to empowering teams to reach their full potential. She believes in the power of inspiring a shared vision and focusing on strengths to achieve outstanding results.
Lane will focus on growing the Planet Impact Fund into a multi-million dollar fund supporting solutions to global challenges.
Jaclyn McCarthy
Director, Brand and Marketing
Jaclyn joined 1% for the Planet in 2018. As the organization’s Director of Brand & Marketing, she oversees the organization’s brand strategy, creative direction, communications and event management. During her tenure, the 1% for the Planet brand has experienced remarkable growth. Prior to 1% for the Planet, Jaclyn earned a BA degree in Media & Journalism at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2016, she began her career at Fuse Marketing, where she honed her skills in experiential marketing and brand strategy. Today, Jaclyn is a dynamic professional with a knack for purpose-driven marketing and a zest for life's many adventures.
