People for the Planet Environmental Partner Changemaker of 2019: One Tree Planted

1% for the Planet is proud to honor One Tree Planted as the People for the Planet Nonprofit Partner Changemaker of 2019. As a 1% for the Planet Environmental Partner, they have helped make our vision and mission a reality.

One Tree Planted is a nonprofit organization focused on global reforestation that plants one tree for every dollar donated. They are on a mission to make it easy for businesses, schools and individuals to make a positive environmental impact by planting trees all over the world.  

In 2019, One Tree Planted planted 4 million trees, and has already committed to planting 6.4 million trees in 2020. After planting an appropriate tree species for the location, the trees are then maintained and monitored to ensure their long term survival and lasting impact and a report on their impact is generated. They are responding to climate disasters in a positive way that has a lasting environmental, economic and social impact both locally and globally.

Through planting trees, they have helped to save Orca whales in British Columbia, clean water in Brazil; empower women in Rwanda; protect biodiversity in Indonesia; and fight back against forest fires in the United States. One Tree Planted has far reaching impacts across the world-- reforestation leads to cascading positive impacts on communities and trees are vital for supporting the six pillars of air, water, biodiversity, social impact, health, and climate. On top of numerous programs that help plant trees all over the world, they also offer a free environmental curriculum for students of all ages and employee engagement sessions. 

One Tree Planted has made a significant contribution to addressing issues in nearly all our focus areas and 1% for the Planet is proud to support them in all the amazing work they do.
