1% for the Planet was founded to prevent greenwashing, certify reputable giving and provide accountability. The 1% for the Planet certification is given to businesses that meet our high-bar commitment—donate 1% of annual sales to environmental causes.

We recognize that we cannot solve the climate crisis without recognizing the disproportionate impact of environmental issues. We exist to ensure that our planet and future generations thrive. However, achieving this goal requires a multi-faceted approach that addresses both environmental and social justice.

1 Choose your cause

We advise our members on Environmental Partnerships and provide personalized giving strategies to ensure the most impact possible. With over 4,000 environmental organizations to choose from, 1% for the Planet members can give to Environmental Partners that support the issues and communities that matter most to them.

2 Give directly

Our members give directly to environmental causes—meaning there’s no middleman between members and their Environmental Partner(s). Our network consists of organizations that work on a diverse range of environmental problems, ensuring a multifaceted approach to our planet’s most pressing issues.

3 Certify your giving

Through our certification process, members provide annual documentation of their total sales and proof of monetary, volunteer and in-kind support to approved Environmental Partners. Third-party certification allows members to leverage the 1% for the Planet logo as a verified seal of their commitment to people and the planet, without the potential risks of greenwashing.

4 Amplify your impact

We amplify the impact of our network through our brand credibility, abundant member services and impact storytelling. Our logo is on millions of products and services worldwide, featured widely and is growing in awareness every day. In short: our globally recognized, trusted platform gives your giving even more power.
