Futaleufú Riverkeeper Foundation

Volunteer Opportunity:

1. Development - Assist FRK's Executive Leadership (which is split between Chilean Patagonia and various regions of the U.S.) in the feasibility of hosting fundraising events in the US. The volunteer will be expected to review past fundraising efforts, connect with FRK's partner organizations and funders in the US, contact past supporters under the guidance of FRK board members, and develop a strategy for hosting a series of events to boost interest in supporting river conservation in Patagonia.

2. Storytelling - Support FRK's Communications Director in drafting compelling stories about our work in Chilean Patagonia, including establishing the first kayaking leadership school for young women and launching the first resident-led water monitoring program in Patagonia.

Volunteer Opportunity: Small Grants - Grant Writer: This position will work directly with TFKM’s Development Director to help research, write, and submit grant applications for grants that award up to $10,000.

The TFKM Development team will organize volunteers through email, phone and occasional Zoom meetings. We’ll give you full details on TFKM’s programs and project boilerplate language used for grants. Volunteer Opportunity: Web Developer-Working closely with other POW volunteers and staff to implement improvements to our digital infrastructure - helping as part of a team to design and implement our digital strategy.

Our web presence is currently built on containerised Wordpress using a customised version of the Jupiter X theme. In future we may look to migrating to an alternative theme to align with other POW chapters.

Volunteer Opportunity: The Watershed Brigade is a new volunteer program that mobilizes participants to get out onto our trails, beaches, swimming holes, and creeks, to help remove litter and provide friendly environmental outreach to visitors. Monthly challenges and raffle drawings are announced and participating individuals and family units receive points for their time volunteering and points earn entries in raffle giveaways.

Puget Soundkeeper Alliance

Volunteer Opportunity: Join Puget Soundkeeper to keep our waters clean by participating in a virtual cleanup! They are super easy to do. On your next walk or outing, pick up trash along the way. You can go to a local beach, park or even just around your neighborhood. Please practice social distancing and wear a face mask.

Mission: The Pacific Beach Coalition is dedicated to preserving the ocean, coastal habitat, and wildlife, and ending litter through advocacy, education, community building and citizen action.

Volunteer Opportunity: Pacific Beach Coalition is seeking volunteers to clean up a location of their liking with family and/or housemates with whom they have been sheltering in place. Inspire others to do the same, while staying safe and respecting County and State orders. Log your collections on the Clean Swell App, sharing citizen science data for use to guide policy and future legislation.

San Francisco Baykeeper

Volunteer Opportunity: San Francisco Bay needs your help. Trash is a serious pollution problem for the Bay, and this year we’re seeing a big uptick in disposable waste and plastics littering sidewalks and shorelines.

Baykeeper is asking supporters to take action while staying safe. By cleaning up in your own neighborhoods and nearby parks and shorelines, you can stop this trash before it reaches the Bay.

Plus, we have an easy-to-use mobile app where you can tell us how much and what kinds of trash you collect. This sampling data helps Baykeeper advocate for stronger trash protections for the Bay.

Blue Water Baltimore

Mission: Blue Water Baltimore works to restore the quality of Baltimore’s rivers, streams and Harbor to foster a healthy environment, a strong economy and thriving communities

Volunteer Opportunity: Volunteers select a date to clean up litter and trash from their neighborhood streets and storm drains, local park, or stream, then challenge their friends and family to join them at the designated time or day to do the same (e.g. "#trashtag, you're it!").

After the clean-up, post photos to social media along with the amount you collected and tag @BlueWaterBmore to be counted in our community clean-up totals.

Volunteer Opportunity: Solo beach cleanups- Surfrider Foundation is announcing guidelines for individuals to conduct solo beach clean ups as long as local governing bodies allow for public beach access.
