Environmental Partner Intern Role:

1% for the Planet is searching for an intern for our Environmental Partners team. This is a paid position that will be based at our Headquarters in the South End of Burlington. The Environmental Partners Intern position will run through the Summer 2023 semester with the potential for extension through the Fall.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, independent, an excellent communicator, and passionate about the environment. The right student for this opportunity is a team player, an efficient and effective worker, and shows strong initiative to take on any task as it presents itself.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the work of reviewing and processing environmental partnership assessments for organizations seeking to join the 1% for the Planet Environmental Partners Network.

  • Ensure high-quality records management, perform routine data auditing, and maintain accurate databases.

  • Assist in updating and supporting processes that connect 1% for the Planet business members with approved Environmental Partners.

  • Review and evolve organizational systems across various platforms used to manage and support the growing Environmental Partners network.

  • In line with initiatives put in place by 1% for the Planet, contribute to the research of identifying growth opportunities in the Environmental Partners network; both in terms of geography and scope of work.

1% for the Planet is a global organization that accelerates smart environmental giving. We are motivated by our recognition that the current level of environmental giving—only 3% of total philanthropy—is not enough to solve the most pressing issues facing our planet. 1% for the Planet inspires people to support environmental organizations through annual memberships and everyday actions. We advise on giving strategies, we certify donations and we amplify the impact of the network.

Today, 1% for the Planet is a network of more than 4,000 business members, an expanding core of individual members and over 6,000 environmental partners in more than 90 countries. Our headquarters are located in Burlington, VT with staff located across the United States.

Please note: Currently, no 1% for the Planet staff members are required to work in our physical office space, even Vermont-based employees. Our team is currently either working from home or working a closely monitored hybrid schedule between their home and our headquarters. Any work done at our headquarters by 1% for the Planet staff members that choose to utilize the space is closely monitored by our team to ensure safety protocols for COVID-19 are implemented, regularly updated and upheld. We will safely arrange for any Vermont-based hire to be able to use our office space, should they request it. We will also work with any candidates to discuss a remote work schedule that feels most safe to them.
