The job: 

Reporting to the Certification Manager, the Certification Coordinator manages certification of our business members' global environmental giving to approved environmental partners, including donations to 1% for the Planet. As part of the Certification team (housed within the larger Business Membership team), this position plays an integral role in 1% for the Planet’s annual certification process by providing best-in-class database management, detailed recordkeeping and excellent internal team support.

This Certification Coordinator is responsible for approving donations and managing daily submissions of annual certification materials. This individual performs quality checks on member accounts to ensure timely and approvable donations. Additionally, the Certification Coordinator supports the accounting team in the member renewals process.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and a systems thinker—driven by data and data integrity—who brings daily enthusiasm to the work of driving 1% for the Planet’s key organizational metric: certified environmental giving.

Key responsibilities:

Database management

  • Review, enter, and approve all certification materials into CRM system, Salesforce
  • Work cross functionally to create reports and dashboards to track progress to annual goals
  • Collaborate with the Sr Manager of Business Membership Success and Certification Manager to provide weekly reports for additional documentation requests and completed certifications
  • Utilize Salesforce features to increase efficiencies of the annual certification process

Account management

  • Develop accurate lists of members to be invoiced, coordinate invoicing with our accountant and process incoming renewal payments

Additional responsibilities and cross-collaboration

  • Communicate regularly with account managers to coordinate certification outreach efforts and ensure data integrity
  • Work with Brand & Marketing, Business Systems & Innovation, and Business Membership teams to enhance the functionality of our online certification portal and celebrating member certification
  • Along with the Certification Manager, work closely with our Finance & Account Manager on certification and accounting tasks and projects

Qualifications:

  • Passion and enthusiasm for data and mission-driven work creating environmental impact
  • 2-4 years of professional experience, experience in accounting or finance preferred
  • Understanding of basic accounting standards and practices
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and Google (Google Docs)
  • Experience in Currency Conversion or dealing with foreign currencies (i.e. CAD, GBP, EUR, AUD, etc) (preferred)
  • Experience in Salesforce and HubSpot (preferred)

Location: 1% for the Planet is headquartered in beautiful Burlington, Vermont. For this position, we will also be accepting resumes for remote candidates.

Please note: Currently, no 1% for the Planet staff members are required to work in our physical office space, even Vermont-based employees. Our team is currently either working from home or working a closely monitored hybrid schedule between their home and our headquarters. Any work done at our headquarters by 1% for the Planet staff members that choose to utilize the space is closely monitored by our team to ensure safety protocols for COVID-19 are implemented, regularly updated and upheld. We will safely arrange for any Vermont-based hire to be able to use our office space, should they request it. We will also work with any candidates to discuss a remote work schedule that feels most safe to them.
