Background

In 2019, our be 1% better campaign reached millions as we equipped our network with world-class creative that helped them to share their commitment to our planet.

Heading into 2020, we remain committed to growing awareness about our movement and calling on people everywhere to be 1% better. With this goal in mind, we planned to pop up in locations all over the globe to highlight our network in action through our be 1% better: global tour. 

Why? 2020 marks a year of turning points: an election year, the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, a growing youth movement; it was the year to show up in person, together, and demonstrate our environmental leadership. 

Or so we thought. As we now know, 2020 presented another, unexpected turning point: a global pandemic. Still, this global health crisis does not diminish the threats to our planet’s future or the need for action. And so, we intensify our call to be 1% better.

In celebration of you—our network of changemakers—we’re launching our new be 1% better site to share the remarkable collective impact of our network and challenge every person, everywhere, to be 1% better.

Similar to 2019, our network will receive a comprehensive kit with campaign creative, customizable assets as well as ideas and inspiration to show you how to integrate be 1% better into your communications plan. 

Our be 1% better site allows people to immerse themselves in our movement and witness the tangible impact of our network—virtually. And perhaps, most importantly, this site will encourage others to join us. 

While this new site will serve as an evergreen resource for our entire network to leverage, 1% for the Planet will be investing in additional resources to drive traffic to the site throughout 2020.  

It’s time to create a new environmental legacy—together.

How to get involved

Use our customizable campaign kit to showcase your impact and partnerships on your own channels.

Within the kit, check out our featured posts for sharable content. We’ll rotate these scheduled features regularly—encouraging everyone to post together—unifying and strengthening our voices! 

Tell your story:

Submit a story of impact via this form for consideration on our site. Form disclaimers and requirements:

• Completion of this form does not guarantee a feature on our channels. 
• Submissions should be complete, including high-quality photos and/or videos.
• Story submissions should highlight positive environmental impact, primarily through the lens of partnerships and how a member's 1% commitment helps catalyze better environmental outcomes.
• Submissions should not be intended to promote member products or services. 
• Please be thorough and accurate. If we choose to feature your story, we will follow up with any specific questions we may have. Otherwise, we’ll plan to repurpose the below and post it on our channels. Your 1% contact will follow up to confirm when/if we’ve posted your story with a link to share on your own channels. 
• We ask that you get signoff from any individual or organization referenced in your submission and that you share on your channels as well.

Sponsorships:

• Start at $5k.
• Include benefits such as: social media promotion via 1% for the Planet channels, features on campaign site, and other perks depending on sponsorship amount and interests.
• Count toward your 1% commitment for 2020, and is a great way to gain visibility while supporting the growth of the global 1% for the Planet community.
