Activism, Local Agriculture
Since 1999, we have harvested over 43,000 lbs of backyard fruit that would otherwise have gone to waste, and have shared the bounty of excess local fruit with community organizations that support those in need. We promote cooperation and neighbourliness in our community, and also teach skills such as canning and food preservation, pruning and fruit tree care.
Each pick yields fresh, pesticide-free local fruit that has almost zero carbon footprint, and redirects food from municipal landfills and composts.
We have a big presence at food security and sustainability related community outreach events across the city, as well as a significant online presence through our website and social media.
