The Tuolumne River Trust is the only organization working to protect and restore the Tuolumne River from its headwaters in Yosemite National Park, through the Central Valley, to San Francisco Bay. By actively engaging riverside communities and those in the Bay Area that receive Tuolumne River water, we have become a watershed-wide organization with 3 offices, 9 staff, a strong volunteer network, and a history of success.
Since our founding in 1981, we have educated thousands of people about watershed ecology and river health, introduced thousands of youth and families to canoeing, hiking, and other outdoor sports, stopped the construction of new dams, halted increased water diversions from the River, and restored
hundreds of acres of floodplain and wildlife habitat.
We want every person who benefits from the Tuolumne to know that his or her food was grown from its water, their tap water comes from it, their wild salmon were hatched in its gravels, and their backpacking, fishing
