After publication of “Last Child in the Woods” in 2006, author Richard Louv co¬founded the Children & Nature Network (C&NN) with activists who shared a vision to build a grassroots movement to reconnect children with nature. C&NN is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides technical assistance, training and support for grassroots campaigns who collectively engage more than 3 million children and families in nature-based activities each year.
C&NN’s Natural Families Network was created to help families everywhere value the natural world as a place for playing, growing, and learning. Family Nature Clubs are self-organized groups of families that commit to outdoor adventures in the parks and neighborhoods where they live.
Natural Leaders Network (NLN) was founded in 2008 to train a new generation of environmental leadership by providing comprehensive training through NLN's Legacy Camp. Graduates of Legacy Camp now reside in 90 communities across 42 states.
