Barbara Friedsam

Barbara’s responsible for connecting New England businesses with the environmental causes they care most about to create the best impact for our region. She comes to 1% for the Planet after many years of reminding brands of their purpose and how to celebrate that. Working with clients that varied from Nike to Efficiency Vermont, she was the steward for the consumer, ensuring that their interests drove the creative process and the results. Barbara started in digital in the early 90s and worked hard over time to make sure the message isn’t lost in the medium.
Barbara has a BA is Sociology with an emphasis on Environmental Studies and an MS in Geography. She wrote her thesis on towns that host public lands and how the two impact each other. She’s thrilled that working at 1% for the Planet now merges her ideals and her experience together.
Barbara grew up moving often, around the US and Europe, but now calls the Mad River Valley home. It’s come full circle really since she spent much of her youth in New England. It’s good to be back. When she’s not at the office, chances are she’s skiing, riding, hiking, playing with Blue dog or planning her next travels.
