Sunpancakes + Arctic Foxes = all the love you could ever want on Valentine’s Day!!

If Iceland sounds cold, worry not, as these darling foxes will assuredly warm your heart. The most precious of all precious and the most snugglicious of all snuggables – 1% for the Planet is proud to welcome The Arctic Fox Center as a non-profit partner. In just the past couple months, with two new members and one non-profit partner hopping aboard the 1% bandwagon, 1%’s presence in Iceland has grown three-fold!

Choose your adventure – raft, kayak, hike or sail – in the West Fjords of North West Iceland with Borea Advenutures. Adventuring with Borea not only steps lightly on the earth, as they focus on “silent” activities that utilize no motorized vehicles, but it also helps support the cutest creatures in the world, as Borea Adventures has chosen The Arctic Fox Center as their 1% recipient organization. How splendid!!
After your eco-friendly adventure with Borea (or before if you’re going out to the rivers!), be sure to check in with Icelandic Member #2: Einarsson Fly Reels! Jón Páll will gear you up with some reels and rods, and perhaps – if you time your travels right – even some brekky! Jón tells us how the sun does not reach over the mountains of Isafjordur for about two months, and so on the day of January 25th, when the sun finally hits the first houses in town, there is a festival of making pancakes – “sunpancakes” they’re called. Jón was inspired to join 1% after chatting with friends at Borea and reading our founders book, Let My People Go Surfing. Jón is further continuing the Icelandic ripple effect by reaching out to the North Atlantic Salmon Fund….
We’re so pleased to take on a presence in the unique and amazing community of Isafjordur, and we look forward to the day when the Arctic foxes are so plentiful that the Center donates a few to the 1% crew!
