Sara LingafelterSeattle, WA, United States
Sara Lingafelter's life revolves around the outdoors. She's an avid climber, second season skier, and sleeps outside every chance she gets. After years of volunteering in partisan politics based on a variety of issues, one emerged above all the others: the environment. She left party politics (as well as putting her legal practice on hold) and started working with the Puget Sound Partnership doing regional outreach working to restore and protect Puget Sound.
"It's easy to get discouraged when working in environmental policy, but when I see completed salmon passage projects and estuary restorations it reminds me that sometimes it's okay to see the trees for the forest. Getting involved with 1% for the Planet is a way for me to contribute to the forest, too."
Sara has since blended her passion for outdoor recreation with her work and has the best job in the world, as a Social Media Specialist at REI. She's active in outdoor industry social media as @theclimbergirl on Twitter and is the girl behind RockClimberGirl.com. She writes semi-regularly for ElephantJournal.com, is a semi-frequent speaker on social media topics and is the Secretary of the Outdoor Industry Women's Coalition. Home is wherever her sleeping bag is, and she's presently based in Seattle, Washington.
