Over the last 20 years, John has lived and worked across four continents, bringing a diverse and international background in business management, marketing and CSR at for profit and nonprofit organizations. His experience includes managing global brands, launching new products, and developing water strategies at The Coca-Cola Company, as well as engaging consumers and businesses to promote Fair Trade at the Fairtrade Foundation (UK). He joined 1% for the Planet in the spring of 2013.
Seeking to deepen his knowledge about the environment, John has traveled extensively to learn firsthand about eco models, endangered species, and what nature has to offer. Visiting the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, staying on Chumbe Island, a UN model for sustainability off the coast of Tanzania and observing Great Whites by a seal colony off Africa’s southern tip were the most memorable. He was surprisingly delighted to discover a scorpion on the wall of his room in Costa Rica, as well as a marsupial scurrying under his bed in Australia. An opportunity to see nature close up!
John earned a BA in International Business and Economics from Sophia University (Japan) in conjunction with The University of Pennsylvania (US). A formerly ranked tennis player, John still enjoys befriending the fuzzy yellow ball, but these days, can be found more often taking advantage of the great Vermont outdoors hiking, cycling and sledding with his family.
