Fashion Takes Action at WEAR 2014
When you think of eco fashion in Canada you should think of Fashion Takes Action (FTA), a Canadian nonprofit organization – and 1% for the Planet approved partner – whose vision is to “see sustainability stitched into every garment, shoe and accessory.” FTA works to achieve this by raising awareness in media interviews, outreach, social media, and events. One upcoming event is the World Ethical Apparel Roundtable (WEAR) 2014 conference in Toronto on March 3rd and 4th. WEAR 2014 is designed to bring together key players in the fashion industry and discuss best practices within the companies.
“Consumers are demanding to know more about where their clothes are made. WEAR is taking place at such a critical time for the apparel industry, and FTA is thrilled to be hosting it at a much needed time,” says Kelly Drennan, founding Executive Director of Fashion Takes Action. The WEAR conference will connect apparel brands, retailers, NGOs and academia to help develop solutions for some of the industry caused problems.
If you’re interested in supporting Fashion Takes Action or learning more about sustainable fashion, register for the conference here. Registrations received before Midnight EST on Thursday, February 13, will be eligible for a special rate of $400/attendee.
