1% for the Planet’s 2013 Holiday Gift Guide
The holiday shopping season has begun! While it is my favorite time of year for some obvious reasons (great food, lots of family time, skiing, etc.), I also love it because I am able to pick out meaningful gifts for the important people in my life.
Last year, I set a goal to support as many 1% for the Planet member companies as possible during the holiday season. It went really well and not only did I end up giving some amazing gifts, but I knew that a portion of my purchases went directly to protecting the places I play.
This year, I asked my co-workers to share which member products they thought would make great gifts. Here is what we all came up with…
Me (Pauline, Social Certification Sleuth)
We Dream In Colour- Aleta Teardrop Earrings: These earrings will be PERFECT for my sister. She loves jewelry and I think this will add a new twist to her wardrobe!
Collared Greens- Santa Tie: My father has had the same faded Santa tie since the 1980′s (maybe the 1970′s), and I think it’s time for an upgrade! They have been members since ’08 and support nonprofits such as the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and many others.
Plak That: Remember that awesome sunset picture you took on a family vacation last summer? Well, email it over to Wyatt and he will print it on wood and send you back a beautiful wall hanging to give to someone in your family. I love this idea, because the Plaks are reasonably priced and totally customizable.
Pura Vida Bracelets: Check out Pura Vida’s enviro-causes charity line & get some awesome bracelets while directly supporting our nonprofit partners. My favorite is the 1% for the Planet pack…
Brodie (Marketing Manager)
Arcadia Home: Some of my favorite holiday memories are of old ornaments from my parents and grandparents. Arcadia Home’s Peacock ornament is already a classic, I’d love to add it to the family collection.
Green Kid Crafts: The perfect present for any young child! This monthly subscription box will allow your child to unlock their creative potential while having fun and engaging with their surrounding environment!
Surf Sweets- Gummy Bears: Who says that gummy bears are only meant for kids?? These natural treats are the perfect stocking stuffer for anyone on your list.
Barbara (Senior Director of Marketing and New England)
Osmium- Departure Pant: Get your man out of those pleated trousers, finally. Made in New England. Fit to travel the world.
Klean Kanteen- “Plastic Sucks” water bottle: While you may already have your vessle ready to go everyday, someone in your life most likely does not. This bottle is great because it never smells, and it supports the important work of Keep A Breast Foundation & the Non Toxic Revolution!
New Leaf Chocolates- Pralus Organic Pyramide: Good chocolate that gives back! No need for additional wrapping either. Yum.
Hugg-a-Planet- Pocket Planet: Soft, snuggly, educational and value driven. Comes with a secret pocket too!
Jon (Membership Experience Manager)
elSage Designs- Snowflake Kids Sweatshirt: Keep the kids cozy and festive in this amazing sweatshirt for the little guys and gals. Block printed by hand in eco friendly ink with the new Snowflake hand carved graphic.
Tahoe Trail Bars: The perfect on-trail snack for the outdoor adventurer.
J Skis: A limited edition ski with an innovative design, bomber durability, and amazing high definition graphics. 1% FTP’s first & only ski company and they’re based here in Vermont!
Soul Poles- Original soul ski pole: Soul Poles says it best themselves, “the original soul is a combination of style, performance, and sustainability for those who don’t need to shout it.” Get a pair & get out there!
Danny (Community Development Specialist)
Bronwen: My girlfriend would love the beautiful simplicity of Bronwen’s Thai Sloop Earrings!
Steel Cow Gallery: Who wouldn’t want a painting of Stella? It’s the perfect present for any animal lover!
Kerry (Membership Maven)
Wean Green tubs: Tempered glass, great mid-size, perfect for everything you could need for lunch for your little one!
Betty Belts’ Sea Glass Ring: Take a piece of the sea with you no matter how inland you get. Genuine sea glass that was shaped by the ocean and found on the beach; not tumbled or shaped in any way!
Salazon Chocolate- Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt and Caramel: Need I say more?
John (Director of Community Development)
Oliberte: Comfy, Stylish and Truly Ethical. What more could you ask for walking in the World’s First Fair Trade certified shoes (and flip flops) everywhere you go! Peace of mind and in tune with the times!
Caudalie: Summed up as “Cosm-Ethics”, their comprehensive range of wonderful products perfectly balanced with elegantly effectiveness and environmental conscious. My family and friends just loved their products. A glamorous yet thoughtful gift for any special occasion and holiday!
Coldpruf: Gearing up for the cold in Vermont, I could not have been happier (and more satisfied) wearing my light and extremely warm base layer pants and crew top. Bring on the snow I say.
Leah (Development Program Manager)
People Towels Pack: Perfect for the traveler on your list. PeopleTowels are the on-the-go alternative to paper towels. This reusable personal hand towels makes going green as easy as drying your hands.
Refleece: ‘Tis the season for wool and fleece! Tablets included! Refleece makes elegant upcycled electronic cases. Just like that special someone on your holiday list, each ReFleece product is unique: no two are exactly the same.
Harney and Sons: Classic. Three generations of Harney’s preserving the tradition of fine tea and traveling the world in search of the finest ingredients.
Bedrock Sandals: How about a pair of minimalist sandals for your favorite adventurer? Give a pair of their new Synclines & get outside!
Woodbuds: Give a pair of their wooden earphones to anyone on your list! These buds not only look awesome, but are eco-friendly.
