Meaningful, Needed, Purpose

Blog-Header-JPThis November, R&D Events is looking back on a year of giving back to the community through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) events. We asked each of our team members about their favorite CSR events and also to tell a little bit about their favorite moments during a CSR event. Because giving back through team building is pretty much one of the coolest things that we do at R&D Events.

JP, which CSR event is your favorite and why?

Ultimate Charity Challenge – this is our Ultimate Game Show with a Charity twist. Geoff and I produced a HUGE one of these events in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  I like the fact that it is one of our signature events (game show) which everyone enjoys and it goes to benefit those in need.  Many other CSR events, which we do and are still great by the way, are done by everyone.  This one has the energy of our game show combined with a MEANINGFUL NEEDED PURPOSE or give back.

What is your favorite CSR event memory?

My favorite CSR moment would have to be the FIRST Jam Session event we did with Clark H.S. in Las Vegas. Again, this was the first time we had ever done this event so there is always that bit of excitement and anticipation for a first time event. (Not a favorite moment – but when the event started, I was the emcee and the CEO introduced me after telling the entire audience that “Joe” from sales was in the ICU and battling for his life – “and now, here is JP with our afternoon event!”)

So after getting through all of that, the event proceeded perfectly.  The kids really thought only (1) person was going to win an instrument.  When the Peter Gabriel song started playing and ALL the team captains came out to give EACH kid an instrument is when it hit me.  I, along with EVERYONE in the audience was choked up with joy.  I will never forget the image of one of the girls crying and hugging her captain as he gave her, her very own Cello.  It was that moment that made me think to myself –“THIS is what it’s all about.”

What are you thankful for this Holiday season?

I am so thankful to have an amazing wife, loving parents and family, GREAT FRIENDS, to live in a free country, a soon to be new house, and working with an AMAZING TEAM.  When you step back and look around – I really do have it good!!!
